Texas Hill Country Adventure

LOCATION:
Dripping Springs and Round Mountain, Texas

Q: What do you get when you combine sun, wine, meat, and friends?
A: The perfect Austin Saturday excursion!

I have been to The Salt Like a handful of times now, but each time the sight and smell of all that BBQ makes me proud to count Texas as one of my homes.  This time we decided to eat family style, which means they bring all the 'Q and sides you can handle for $20.

Not a job I would like to have, too hot! TOO HOT!
Look at all that BBQ, cooked in the original pit from 1967.

After eating our weight in ribs, sausage and brisket (and sampling a few of Texas Hill Country's finest wines) we drove on a little further to this hidden gem that Lauren found called West Cave Preserve. Our guide took us on a walk through cactus and wildflowers, which ended at waterfall and natural cave full of stalagmites and stalactites.

Are you sure we are still in Texas?
The "waterfall" was almost all dried up.
Friends inside the cave!
All in all, a perfect February Saturday.  It's days like these that I am sure I will miss once I leave Austin in a few months, but I sure am excited for the adventures that are ahead elsewhere!
