LOCATION:
Bordeaux, France
One of the first things we did when arriving to Bordeaux was seek out a hearty meal. Despite the slight drizzle (first on the trip so far!), we found a cute outdoor cafe for a meal that was definitely "of the region."

Lauren was laughing at Julie and I, we took pictures of this for a good ten minutes before anyone could have a sip! |
Later that night we found the Place de la Bourse, an iconic Bordeaux building which none of us could figure out the purpose of. Pretty at night though!

There is usually a large reflective fountain in front, but was turned off for the season. |
The next night Jen and Erin joined us from their study abroad program in Barcelona, and guess what was on the menu? More vin!

Erin decided to get one of everything... Just kidding, this is the order for the table. |
A surprising find in Bordeaux was a carnival, something none of us had experienced in about a decade so we decided to indulge for a few rides. The highlight was the Ferris wheel, which had the added benefit of awesome night views.

Great view from the top. |
The next morning we relaxed in a cafe while waiting for Jen and Erin's bus for the airport, and after they left Lauren and I found an outdoor market where I found some delightful avocados. So far I haven't missed much of the food I am used to from the states, with the exception of avocados and yogurt. The yogurt-finding mission continues...

Cafe au Lait is my fave. |

Such a great market, and the perfect sunny day for market snacking. |
Overall Bordeaux was great, but smaller and a lot more laid back than I was expecting. After spending four nights here, I feel like I know the city pretty well. Bordeaux success!

A view from the bridge we walked across each day to get into town. |
